The Digital Image Processing Group at the Department of Radiology at the University of Munich (City Center Hospital) has been active in the field of digital medical image processing since 1997. The group is led by Dr. med. Dipl.-Phys. Axel Wismüller and pursues research in several areas related to image segmentation, image time-series analysis, and bioinformatics. The group is focussed on innovative strategies for exploratory data analysis in multidimensional image processing based on intelligent algorithms in the fields of neural network computing, adaptive systems, clustering, self-organization, and data mining. Current research projects focus on applications for functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI), magnetic resonance mammography, magnetic resonance imaging of speech production, and human brain mapping for clinical monitoring in patients with Multiple Sclerosis.
